An Overview of Extraterrestrial Contact Experiences:
How Regression Therapy Can Help ©
by Barbara Lamb, M.S., M.F.T., CHT
Introduction:
Regression therapy is the most helpful and effective way I know for getting to the
source of a continuing problem, whether the source was in a past life or is in a
present life. After fifteen years of conducting psychotherapy and after seven years
of conducting Past Life Regression Therapy, I discovered that the source of some
people's distress or trauma is experiences that they may have had with
extraterrestrial beings.
These beings cause various responses in the people whom they contact, ranging
from wonder, awe, and enlightenment to extreme anxiety, fears and phobias, anger
and resentment, and (rarely) the inability to function normally. For people with any
of these responses, regression therapy and integration work can help them
assimilate and make sense of their bizarre experiences and function better in their
lives, even though these experiences may continue to happen to them.
Many ancient sources indicate that interaction between extraterrestrial beings (who
seem to come from the heavens or space) and humans may have been occurring
for thousands of years. In recent times, contacts and abductions have been
reported since the early 1960’’s. According to polls taken during the 1980’’s and
1990’’s an estimated five to eight million Americans have had these experiences,
and it is a world-wide phenomenon as well.
Since my first highly traumatized extraterrestrial Experiencer client worked with me
in 1991 I have regressed more than five hundred people to various kinds of
extraterrestrial contact episodes and I am currently working with fifteen abductees. I
estimate that I have conducted at least fifteen hundred regressions to a variety of
experiences with extraterrestrial beings. I lead a monthly Support Group for
Experiencers as well. I prefer to call people who have had experiences with
extraterrestrial beings ““Experiencers””, rather than ““Contactees”” or
““Abductees””, as many of them have some experiences which they consider
negative (and might be thought of as ‘‘abductees’’) and some experiences which
they consider positive (and therefore might be thought of as ‘‘contactees’’). When
they interpret some of their experiences in one way and some in the other way, it
seems fair to refer to them as ‘‘Experiencers’’.
Conducting Therapy With Experiencers:
The field of therapeutic work with Experiencers is a relatively recent development.
The first case on record occurred in the early 1960’’s when psychiatrist Dr.
Benjamin Simon hypnotically regressed Betty and Barney Hill to their disturbing
abduction by unusual beings in New England. Being new to working with patients
who had had this type of experience, and not being familiar with the idea of
abductions of people by extraterrestrial beings, Dr. Simon concluded that the Hills
must be suffering a "shared delusion." Later evidence, perspective, and other
people’’s experiences validated the reality of the Hills’’ experience.
Since that time, unfortunately, most mental health practitioners have failed to come
to grips with the abduction phenomenon, and in many cases do not believe that the
phenomenon is real. Thus, Experiencer clients are often erroneously diagnosed,
medicated, and treated. This leaves them feeling misunderstood and worse than
before they sought professional help. Furthermore, family members, friends and
associates often laugh at them or call them crazy. They quickly learn to keep
reports of their extraterrestrial experiences and their severe anxieties very private,
and therefore receive no help in dealing with them.
A good source of professional psychotherapists and regression therapists to whom
to refer Experiencers who desire to receive this kind of professional help is the
Academy of Clinical Close Encounter Therapists (ACCET). This is an international
organization of people who appreciate the challenges held by people who
experience extraterrestrial encounters, and who are trained in regression therapy.
Other members include people who acknowledge and appreciate the reality of
visitors from elsewhere in space interacting with human beings and occasionally
removing them for various actions for an hour or two duration of time. This
organization can be reached by contacting the author at barbara_lamb@verizon.
net.
Most Experiencers are not inherently medically or psychiatrically disturbed,
although they might experience pronounced anxiety, especially in certain
situations. This is amazing, considering the intensity of the trauma they have
experienced. They are actually normal people to whom very unusual things have
happened. Now that the subject of alien abductions is aired more publicly in the
media, they realize that their bizarre experiences are similar to reports from other
people of having been visited by and taken away by highly unusual beings, in
episodes called ‘‘abductions’’ They might want to get validation and understanding
from someone who knows something about the abduction phenomenon, and may
attend meetings and conferences which focus on the UFO phenomenon, such as
regional MUFON groups and the International UFO Congress, to see if there is
evidence and validation for crafts and beings coming from space. They may share
their stories with researchers in the UFO field long before daring to tell a therapist.
They are relieved to be taken seriously and to have their experiences validated,
but they may still need therapeutic help to deal with them.
Working with Experiencers:
Each therapist has his own procedure for working with Experiencers, if he is open
to the phenomenon and willing to take these people seriously. However, I believe
that trained regression therapists have the necessary skills for working with
Experiencers. They can help the Experiencer uncover the buried memories of their
strange encounters, even though the aliens often have specifically told them and
influenced them "not to remember" anything. Fortunately, everything that has
happened is recorded in their subconscious minds, and as in past life regression
therapy work, it can be retrieved through regression procedures. This enables
expression and release of the associated feelings and the eventual integration of
the experience into the person’’s conscious life. Generally therapists understand
that material which has been brought into the conscious mind can be
therapeutically worked with far more effectively than material which is inaccessible
in the subconscious mind.
The initial contact with Experiencers is important, whether in person or by letter or
by telephone. They are often afraid to tell about the bizarre and unexplained things
that have happened to them, so it is crucial for the regression clinician to be open-
minded and to take what they say seriously, even though he does not yet know if
they are true Experiencers . It can help to ask about their general life and
functioning, and ask for brief descriptions of anything they think might be related to
their unusual experiences: including dreams that seem to be ‘‘more than dreams’’,
sensing or seeing unusual beings in their room, flashbacks to glimpses of being
with unusual creatures, consciously witnessing UFO sightings, "missing time"
experiences, finding unusual and unexplained markings on their bodies, or
anything else that seems relevant. It is also important to tell them from the start that
if they discover through regression that they are Experiencers of extraterrestrial
contact, their lives and their notions of reality may be changed forever.
In the first session with the new client, before beginning to regress him to
experiences which might turn out to be extraterrestrial encounters, it is important to
get a clear sense of whether any other kind of crisis or major life issue is going on
in his life, whether he has a history of being abused, and whether he has
psychiatric symptoms or serious depression or anxiety. If any of these possibilities
are true for the client, these issues should be taken care of therapeutically first
before exploring the possibility of extraterrestrial encounters.
As the client is telling about unusual experiences and clues that something
anomalous has happened to him, the therapist does well to notice where he is the
most intense emotionally. Look for important interruptions in the client's life, or for
symptoms such as "irrational" anxieties, flashbacks, and vivid dreams. Explore the
client's fear of uncovering possible abduction material, and discuss what it is likely
to mean in their life if they discover that they have actually had the experiences.
Clients may fear that they are going "insane", because of their bizarre experiences.
It is necessary to reassure them that they are not. They may need help in setting
up good support systems; these are important to help them feel stable and
accepted as they go through the regression work. Acknowledge their courage in
coming to see you for help, and for being willing to explore what may have
happened to them.
During the first sessions it is better for the therapist not to indicate whether or not
he believes the client has experienced a true abduction. The client should draw his
or her own conclusions about this, but should not do this until after at least one or
two regression sessions. Asking the client to rate the "reality" of the regression
experiences by means of a scale from 0 to 10, with zero representing "dream or
fantasy" and ten indicating "it was real" may help them make this decision. A few
tens may be a good reason to continue exploring the possibility that the client is
truly an Experiencer.
Before beginning any regression work, it is helpful to prepare the client for what the
process of hypnosis is like: that the state of hypnosis is actually a state of deep
relaxation in which we can access memories which have been buried in the
subconscious mind. During the regression the client will hear the therapist’’s voice
and will follow the guidance and answer the therapist’’s questions. He will answer
out loud with his own voice, describing the details of what he is experiencing in the
past episode he is revisiting. At moments he may be aware of the position that his
body is lying or sitting in. He will be mostly aware of reliving the experience he has
regressed to, moment by moment, though at times he might be briefly aware of the
‘‘here and now’’ and his current thought process. During the regression we can
move backward in time, if we want to take a more thorough look at what was
happening, Or we can move forward to the next important thing happening. Or we
can pause at a certain moment and discern more details about what is occurring.
The brain wave activity state of the client during the regression is usually the Alpha
state, which we all experience many times each day: when we are falling asleep,
when we are half waking up, when we are intensely focused on reading a book or
watching television or a movie without much awareness of what is happening
around us, or when we are driving a car while being so focused on what we are
thinking or listening to that we are barely aware of how far we have progressed. We
can also go into deeper brain wave states such as Theta or even Delta, with further
relaxation suggestions and deepening techniques given by the therapist, although
the Alpha and Theta states are usually sufficient for going back and reliving the
details of the past experience of interest.
It is important for the therapist to reassure the client that he will be right with him in
the experience, every moment, and will assist him in handling what is happening,
and will help him come back out of the experience at any time if he needs to, or
when the episode is completed. The therapist can reassure him that if he does not
want to fully experience what is occurring in the regression (such as a painful
medical procedure) he can temporarily leave his body and view what is happening
from the side or from above., and then return to his body. It can be helpful to know
exactly what happened during the experience, even if not fully reliving painful
physical sensations. The client benefits from being reminded, before the
regression starts, and here and there during the regression, that he WILL return
from the experience he is reliving, and he will continue with his life and his everyday
functioning.
Before the regression begins the therapist helps the client to choose the focus or
subject, for that particular regression The focus could be a mere fragment of a
memory, such as a few seconds of an unusual experience. It could be to whatever
happened during a period of one to two hours of missing time. The focus could be
to the source of flashbacks of a disturbing experience. Or the focus could be
whatever happened that caused the client to suddenly have unaccountable scars
or other markings on his body. Or what happened after seeing three unusual
beings by the side of the bed at night and being unable to move or to call out for
help. Or what happened after seeing a very bright light above the client’’s car while
driving, being followed by this light, having the car motor mysteriously stop and
three beings approaching the car. Or to the source of a recurring dream which
disturbs the client. The focus helps the client’’s subconscious mind to locate the
incident being explored, and to make it available to be relived in minute detail. The
client chooses which strange experience to regress to, in order to learn more and
to integrate the material into his conscious mind and his life.
Sometimes the focus is other than a specific incident. It may involve going back to
the source of the client’’s intense feelings (often fear or discomfort) which he has in
certain everyday situations, which remind him of something anomalous and
disturbing which he does not quite remember. An example of this is a client greatly
fearing being in a hospital or shopping mall or airport with light-colored shiny floors,
which he discovers during his regression to come from his fear of being in a space
craft (which had bright shiny floors) during an abduction. Sometimes the focus is
more open-ended, such as asking the client’’s subconscious mind to take him back
to whatever is most important for him to remember and to know at this particular
time. It is also helpful to assess the client's primary ‘‘mode’’ of accessing
information and memories, whether visual, auditory, kinesthetic, scent awareness
or intuitive knowing, in order to ask the kinds of questions during the regression
that will bring about the clearest memories and information.
It is very helpful to explore any beliefs which the client may have in any ‘‘higher
source’’ to call upon for help, if necessary, during the reliving of traumatic
memories. If he does have a sense of spiritual resources, you can reassure him
that some "higher guide" will accompany him and make sure that he is returned
from the experience. If the client has no sense of spiritual resources, the therapist
can reassure him of his own accompanying of the client in every moment of the
experience.
The client can also be reassured that he does not have to relive an entire
abduction experience during one session, if it seems to be overwhelming or too
distressing for him, and that you will end the session any time he wishes if he feels
that is necessary. Each client has his own degree of being frightened to explore
what has happened to him that he does not consciously remember. He may need
all possible reassurance that he will be ‘‘safe’’ in recovering his memories. He may
also need some practice at getting into the altered state sufficiently enough to
relive the experience which he is choosing to explore. It may take him some time to
trust the therapist to help him open the way for the details of the experience to be
relived, without influencing him or ‘‘leading’’ him or ‘‘planting ideas’’ in his mind.
Experiencers may consciously recall some elements of their abductions before
being regressed. Some remember only small fragments of their extraterrestrial
experiences. Others think they remember all of the episode only to discover later,
through regression, that there was much more to the experience than they had
remembered. Some remember absolutely nothing about an abduction experience
for years until "triggered" into a memory by something such as seeing a picture of
an alien or a UFO, or hearing the accounting of someone else’’s encounter, or
having a vivid dream of an encounter.
It seems that the extraterrestrials affect the Experiencer with a form of amnesia or
forgetfulness. This is very powerful and may be reinforced by the Experiencer’’s
own internal protective mechanism of denial. Unconsciously, many Experiencers
feel a strange kind of bonding with the aliens they encounter, as in the Patty Hurst
abduction case, and feel disloyal to them by remembering. Such clients need to be
reassured that they have a right to know what happened to them, and that no harm
will come to them or to the aliens by. remembering and sharing their experience
with someone they can trust. They may benefit by being reminded that they have
survived the experience, no matter how bizarre or even disturbing it may have been.
Whatever comes into the client’’s awareness during the regression should be
explored as thoroughly as possible, including going over some details again and
again and deepening the brain wave state if necessary. The client can easily ‘‘fill in
the gap’’ between moments, with his own confabulated ideas. Therefore it is helpful
to relive the episode more than once, to be sure to retrieve the details accurately.
As in conducting any regression, the therapist should avoid influencing the material
with ‘‘leading suggestions’’, assumptions, and planting of ideas. It is possible that
some traumatic details of the material will not appear during the first few sessions,
due to the client protecting himself from unwanted distress.
Clients who are experiencing considerable fear during the regression should not be
forced to remember details which they are not ready to face. The therapist should
move slowly with the client, following his lead. He can suggest that the client move
backwards or forwards in time, according to which details need to be explored more
thoroughly, with the willingness of the client. This is possible to do in this altered
state of consciousness, which is a very fluid state of being.
Before ending the regression, the therapist can direct the client to "move ahead to
the conclusion of this experience" which allows the client to experience a closure of
the material in that session and to be aware of being back to where he was at the
beginning of the experience. The incident which was regressed to might be
revisited in a subsequent session, but at least the client can feel some completion
for the time being.
The frequency of abductions varies greatly from one Experiencer to another. In my
research it appears that most Experiencers have been abducted more than once,
often many times, starting as far back in life as in childhood, infancy or life in their
mothers’’ wombs, even if they remember the hints of only one more recent
encounter. Intervals between abductions may be weeks, months, or years; yet
some people may have had as many as several abductions in one night.
Some Experiencers at the beginning of their regression work recall only frightening
events, as those are the events which need the most therapeutic work, and which
stand out dramatically and attract the psyche’’s attention. However, those
Experiencers often discover during subsequent regressions that they have been
interacting with a variety of aliens and that some of their experiences have been
educational, enjoyable and even enlightening as well. I encourage my Experiencer
clients to continue with their regressions, so they can discover the probable
positive aspects of their extraterrestrial experiences as well as the more negative
elements.
Indications of Having Abduction Experiences:
There are many indications that a person may be an Experiencer of extraterrestrial
encounters, and more therapists should be aware of these special clues. The
Experiencer often has on-going "irrational" anxiety, disorientation, confusion, and
frequent panic attacks. At the worst the person may discontinue work or school or
other activities. He or she may have fears of doctors' offices, hospitals, and medical
instruments and procedures; this fear may be so extreme that the person avoids
getting needed treatment. Some people may have panic attacks when in certain
settings where the light is indirect from an unknown source.
Many Experiencers have sexual and relationship problems and have difficulty
trusting others, especially authority figures. Some of them have compulsive or
addictive behaviors; yet there may also have psychic abilities and experiences.
They may also fear animal eyes, owl eyes, spiders, snakes, and praying mantis
insects, which unconsciously remind them of extraterrestrial beings they have
encountered. Many Experiencers have various strong fears: of the dark, of being
left alone, of going to bed, of falling asleep, of their bedroom closet, of being
"watched," of driving alone at night, and of being followed by bright lights. They
may have unusual sleeping habits, such as sleeping fully clothed and with shoes by
the side of the bed, so that they can make a quick ‘‘get away’’ if they are visited by
unwanted creatures, They may sleep next to the wall for a sense of protection, and
position themselves away from the window so that they will not be seen from
outside. They may lock the doors and windows of their homes and turn on the
monitoring system and check them again and again before retiring for the night.
They may wake up at a particular time at night, every night, or may do everything
possible to stay awake until that particular time has passed and they unexplainably
feel ‘‘safe’’.
Many Experiencers suffer from insomnia or other sleep disorders. The person may
describe being "slammed" awake, or have the sensation of having been dropped to
the mattress from above. They may wake up in strange positions on the bed or on
top of the bedcovers, or somewhere else in the house or even several miles away
from home; they may wake up with grass or dirt on their feet, and not remember
having been outside during the night. Their hair may be completely wet when they
wake up, with no awareness of how that happened. They may have their sleeping
clothes on backwards or inside out, even though they remember having put them
on properly before going to bed that night. They may find themselves wearing
clothing that is not their own.
There are also physical clues that a person is having extraterrestrial encounters:
he might wake up with mysterious marks on his body: small scoop-shaped scars,
triangular bum marks, a bead of pus in the navel, straight thin cuts, bruises in the
shape of a grouping of fingertips, pin- prick marks. There may be a small lump near
one ear or in the forehead or at the base of the head, above the spine. The person
may feel frequent vibrations in the forehead; his ears may ring or buzz, or he may
feel pressure in his ears. He may have had frequent nosebleeds since childhood
and may sometimes wake to find drops of blood on his pillow. He may have chronic
sinusitis and other nasal problems , as well as chronic headaches, especially in
one ear, or behind one eye, or in the sinus area.
Additional clues are that he may have back or neck problems, soreness in the
genitals, or stiffness anywhere in the body. He may have a strong sensitivity to
certain lights and sounds, and electronic equipment may turn off or malfunction
when he is nearby. Some Experiencer women may say they became pregnant
without having had sexual activity, and then two or three months later discovered
that the fetus had mysteriously disappeared without having had an abortion or
miscarriage. Or they may say they discovered that one of a pair of twins had
mysteriously vanished from the womb, with the cord cut and sutured perfectly.
Experiencers may remember being paralyzed, unable to call out, being levitated
and floated out though a window or a solid wall, and then transported up on a
beam of light and into a spaceship where various procedures happen. Although
many clients do not consciously recall these last few clues before they start their
regressions, these experiences will emerge during the regressions. There are
many kinds of experiences with extraterrestrial beings which are reported and
which emerge during regressions of Experiencers. There are also many different
types of beings which Experiencers encounter.
Different Types of Extra-Terrestrial Beings:
According to reports from thousands of people world-wide, there are many types of
aliens. They can be tall or short, hairy or bald, uncaring or compassionate.
Perhaps the most common type we hear about is the "little grays:" They are
described as being three to four feet tall, they have grayish skin, big black almond-
shaped eyes, tiny noses, small slits for mouths, no outside ear flaps, very large
heads with pointed chins, no hair, and thin and delicate-looking bodies. They move
stiffly, like robots, and they are described as very matter-of-fact, going about their
tasks diligently and efficiently, with no regard for the Experiencer's reactions or
discomfort. Similar in general appearance are the "little whites," with big round
eyes, who seem much sweeter and gentler and less threatening to be with. Both
the little grays and the little whites conduct the actual abductions of the
Experiencer. Sometimes they also perform medical procedures right in the
“Experiencer’’s bedroom.
There are other gray beings of various heights, some of whom have large, black,
almond-shaped eyes and some have differently shaped eyes including ‘‘beveled’’
eyes. Some of these beings stare into the Experiencer’’s eyes from a distance of
only an inch or two away, seeming to draw out all the person's thoughts and
memories. This is a most frightening and unnerving experience for the Experiencer.
There are bronze-colored and whitish aliens of five-feet eight or nine inches; some
of these have large, faceted eyes. Others are short white aliens with huge pointed
ears and big feet. Some are very tall pure white aliens with wispy hair and skin
drawn very tightly over the skull-like face. Some aliens are reported to look like
"Sasquatch," very large ape-like beings with hairy, shaggy skin.
Very disconcerting are some large, muscular reptilian types of beings with snake-
like golden eyes with vertical pupils and uneven, mottled and bumpy skin often
described as alligator-like or snake-like. Some of these fearsome beings have
armored plates covering their chests, and some wear regal clothes with insignia.
They tend to have the size and the stature of a tall, athletic human male They
appear to be aggressive and arrogant and are said to mate with human females.
Another type of being is the tall, thin “insectoid”, with huge bug-like eyes and
extremely thin arms and legs.
As disconcerting as these ‘‘praying mantis’’ beings appear, they often turn out to
be unconditionally loving and kind. Once an Experiencer gets past this unusual
appearance, he usually reports a great fondness for these beings. Shorter,
stockier bug-like aliens with big bulging eyes do not seem to radiate that kind of
lovingness, and are often shunned by those who experience them.
Some aliens appear quite human-like, including the "hybrid" type. These seem to
be a combination of human and extra-terrestrial. They often seem human at a
distance, but appear alien upon closer contact. Their eyes seem more human than
alien, but their expression and demeanor are non-responsive. Allegedly, some
hybrids who look human enough to pass for humans in our society sometimes
intermingle with humans on earth.
Many aliens wear robes with large hoods, or spacesuits, or formfitting suits of
varying kinds. Although these beings show no apparent indication of what we would
call gender or external genitalia, abductees do distinctly sense them to be "male" or
"female." Some seem more attuned to the needs and feelings of humans than
others; one of my clients learned that the degree of understanding of human
beings depends on which aliens have had human incarnations and how recently
those incarnations were.
One well-publicized type of unusual beings is the "men in black," who come to UFO
investigators' or Experiencers’’ offices or homes to confiscate material evidence of
alien activity, especially when the material contains information about alien
technology or human-government involvement with aliens and Experiencers. These
beings seem robot-like and may, in fact, be some sort of robots. They look human
at first glance, but have unusual eyes that they cover with dark sunglasses. They
dress in ill-fitting mens' suits and hats of 1940's style, and speak in monotone,
"canned" voices, as if it takes a great deal of effort for them to speak. They seem
to know which knowledge or experience or materials the person has, and they
demand the materials they are seeking. They threaten to appear in the person's
sleep until the materials are turned over to them. They seem insistent and
intimidating, but soon their energy seems to run down and they stagger toward the
door and leave. They have been observed "disappearing" halfway along the
sidewalk. There are also beings who look like athletic, well-built, handsome
humans, often with blond hair and very intense blue eyes. They are often referred
to as :Nordics””. They often do procedures which allegedly help Experiencers and
relate to Experiencers in more acceptable ways. Some beings seem to be other-
dimensional and ethereal, and greatly inspire and thrill Experiencers, to whom they
give transformational experiences. Some of them are so unconditionally loving that
Experiencers feel deep grief and loss upon returning from these contacts.
Many of the aliens described above work together cooperatively during abductions
of humans. Certain beings come to take the Experiencer to the spaceship; others
perform medical and reproductive procedures on him while lying on an examining
table. Still others do deep scanning through the Experiencer’’s eyes, and another
type comforts the Experiencers by touching their foreheads or shoulder with one
hand. A "leader" type observes the procedures from the background. Some aliens
do complicated healing procedures; they are reported to have healed such things
as cancer and a hole in the heart.
After the medical or sexual procedures are completed, Experiencers are sometimes
taken to another room and shown "holographic" scenes of earth catastrophes such
as nuclear destruction or, ecological destruction. Sometimes they are shown
pleasant, positive scenes. Sometimes the aliens holographically ‘‘stage’’ certain
emotionally stirring events, such as the Experiencer’’s child being struck by a car,
or a cherished lover or departed loved one suddenly appearing. During these
staged events the aliens study the Experiencers intently, watching their reactions
as if they are trying to learn about human emotions, or perhaps to derive energy
from the intensity of the humans’’ feelings.
Lifelong Experiences:
People seem to begin their extraterrestrial contacts early in life, sometimes even
before birth. One male client was treated by an extraterrestrial for a congenital hole
in his heart while he was still in his mother’’s womb, by the being placing his hands
on the outside of the womb and sending energy into the embryo inside. He said to
the embryo “You will not be able to live with this condition, so I am placing an
invisible electro- magnetic strip over the hole in your heart”. The treatment was
repeated by the extraterrestrial every year or so, during abductions, until the man
was forty-eight years old, and received surgery by human doctors for the officially
diagnosed congenital hole in his heart.
Many people begin their experiences with extraterrestrial beings shortly after birth
and they continue to be abducted throughout childhood, teenage years and
adulthood. Children responded to these contacts in various ways, ranging from
terror and dread of sleeping alone to thoroughly enjoying their "special friends."
Children are taken from their beds at night or from wherever they are playing
during the daytime, are medically examined on the spaceship, apparently to be
sure they are healthy, and sometimes are given a tour of the craft. Some children
are introduced to "hybrid" children and are asked to play with them and teach them
how human children play.
Some children find themselves in a classroom type of setting on the spaceship, with
other abducted children, being taught such things as ‘‘mind ball’’, (moving things
with only their minds) and other psychic skills. These learning games are taught
and monitored by a variety of extraterrestrial beings. Some children will recognize
each other from their life on earth, and develop a bond with one or two and with the
beings. In many instances the children enjoy these experiences, and yet are mostly
unaware of them and their own paranormal abilities after being returned to their
homes.
The Hybridization Program Between Humans and Extraterrestrials:
When many Experiencer children enter adolescence, an additional, very traumatic,
experience begins. There seems to be an on-going interbreeding program being
carried out by some species of extraterrestrials. Eggs or sperm are removed from
the adolescent Experiencer girl and are apparently mixed with alien reproductive
substances so that a hybrid embryo is formed.
A month or so later the girls are abducted again and implanted with this hybrid
embryo. They realize they are pregnant and some have the pregnancy confirmed
by doctors. A few weeks later they are abducted again and the embryos are
removed and placed in containers of special fluid. The girls suddenly realize that
they are no longer pregnant, and yet they know they have not had an abortion or
miscarriage.
Months later these same girls are again taken aboard the spaceship and asked to
hold their "babies," who do not look entirely human. The Extraterrestrials seem to
know that because these babies are partly human, they need to be held by, loved
by and bonded to their human mothers. These babies are frail and pale, with large,
penetrating eyes , strangely shaped heads and straw-like or wispy hair. The girls
are urged to hold, love, and bond with these unusual babies during these visits
while being closely observed by the attending extraterrestrials. Some girls are
horrified and mystified by this, while others respond with surprise and yet are able
to hold and feel love for the strange looking baby. During the subsequent years
these girls continue to have brief visits with their hybrid children while on the space
ship, and have s chance to relate to them to some extent. Some of these mothers
wish they could bring their hybrid children home with them and raise them here on
earth, but they are told the children would not survive here. Some mothers want
nothing to do with their hybrid children and are repulsed that their reproductive
material was taken and used to create these strange children. These hybrid
children are highly prized by the extraterrestrials, especially since many of them do
not survive for many years.
During the next several years these women could be part of this reproductive
process several or many times, usually without much conscious awareness of it
except for being pregnant and then mysteriously ‘‘losing’’ the fetus. When these
things have occurred during abductions the memories could come back during
regressions. Human males are subject to reproduction/hybridization procedures as
well. Beginning in adolescence and continuing for several decades they may be
abducted and have sperm mechanically removed from them. In some cases they
are mated with by various types of extraterrestrial beings. With both human males
and human females, these reproductive actions usually take place on board the
space craft, with the occasional copulating taking place in their own homes.
Reasons given to Experiencers for this hybridization program include: one race
having lost their own ability to reproduce offspring and needing to combine with
human genetic material in order to survive. Another race has become physically
weakened by many centuries of interbreeding with only their own kind, and wish to
add the more robust human stock. Another race has become so intellectual and
rational that they wish to add the component of human emotion. Still another race
wishes to create offspring who could live with them in their locations and also live
with humans on earth. Other races seek to create offspring who could travel back
and forth between their societies and ours, serving as ‘‘ambassadors’’.
Physical Vs. Astral Abductions:
Experiencers are abducted for a variety of purposes by a variety of
extraterrestrials. Common physical procedures include medical examinations on a
cold, hard table, taking and testing of their body fluids, inserting and extracting and
replacing of tiny implants, procedures with the brain, taking samples of tissues from
inside the body, reproductive procedures (including sexual intercourse with the
beings), being asked to relate to their hybrid offspring, being tested for their
emotional reactions to various situations, and being suspended and submerged in
large tanks of unknown liquid. Different Experiencers react in various ways to these
procedures.
Common astral experiences involve being taken in spirit/consciousness/ mind only,
while the body remains behind where the experience began. Experiencers often
report being levitated up from their beds and looking down at their bodies which
are still lying on the bed. They are often taken to some sort of ‘‘place of learning’’,
which may be astral (non physical) as well. Perhaps for their own sense of security,
Experiencers may see these settings as a library, classroom, laboratory, temple, or
some other place conducive to learning, although they may actually be visiting a
non- physical place in a non-physical state of being. Extraterrestrial guides or
teachers or mentors help them to learn many skills, including physical healing,
psychic development, technological skills, ecological concerns, the piloting of
spaceships, the administering of health care to masses of people after earth
disasters, and other subjects.
Any Experiencer may have, during the years of his abductions, some physical and
some astral abductions, and some positive and some negative experiences. He
may encounter many different species of extraterrestrials, during various
abductions, and each species seems to have its own agenda. He may even
encounter a few different types during one single abduction. Some Experiencers
may remain angry and resentful toward their abductors throughout their lifetimes.
Some may feel neutral toward their abductors. Some Experiencers are terrified by
their abductions, especially at the beginning of an experience, but may gradually
become more comfortable with the beings and eventually know them to be
enlightened, spiritual beings with whom they are thrilled to be face to face. Some
Experiencers feel honored and privileged to be part of an important cosmic
program. They may even channel meaningful information from these beings, which
they are eager to share with other people.
Whether the abduction experience is to be physical or astral, it usually begins with
the Experiencer being rendered paralyzed and amnesic after the first few moments.
My clients have told me that this is necessary to prevent their flailing out in fright or
anger, which could injure them and their abductors, and to enable the particles of
their bodies to separate enough to be moved through a solid wall or closed window.
The beings might also increase the vibrational frequency of the Experiencers’’
bodies, which requires a lack of movement. Because the beginnings of abduction
experiences seem to be startling, intrusive and forced upon them , Experiencers
usually react negatively and fearfully, even if the experience turns out to be a
positive one.
Unusual Variations of Abduction Experiences:
Occasionally clients discover during regression that they were abducted by
extraterrestrials during a previous lifetime, whether or not they are having these
experiences in this lifetime. Occasionally clients learn that they themselves were
extraterrestrial beings during previous lifetimes, living their lives on another planet,
or exploring various planets for possible colonization, or being sent to earth for
certain purposes. Some clients discover that they previously were the same type of
extraterrestrial being that is currently abducting them, and that they are serving as
‘‘windows’’ for their beings to learn more about human beings and about life on
earth.
Through clients’’ channeling of extraterrestrial beings, we have been told that all
conscious, intelligent beings in the universe are from the same source and are able
to incarnate on each others’’ planets and in each others’’ dimensions, and that
each intelligent species goes to the same spirit plane between incarnations.
Some Experiencers discover during regressions that they actually collaborate with
the extraterrestrials during abductions. They may help convince other humans to
go aboard space ships, help with medical procedures on other abducted humans,
learn healing techniques from the beings, help to run the spacecraft and even to
co-pilot the ships. Some Experiencers discover they are delegates to large council
meetings comprised of beings from many different planets, in which they discuss
problems amongst various species and especially problems on planet earth.
Others travel very long distances in a spaceship while suspended in containers of
special liquid, to keep them safe and to help them adjust to the speed and the
changing atmosphere.
Transformational Aspects:
Some Experiencers do not interpret what is happening to them as invasive or
traumatic. They believe that all of their abduction experiences, even painful medical
procedures, are for a worthwhile purpose and are basically positive. They learn to
like and in some cases love the beings with whom they have had years of contact.
They accept the reality that they have extraterrestrial spouses and children. These
people deliberately look for the deeper meaning of their experiences. It can be
argued that this is the only way they can tolerate what has happened to them and
will continue to happen, like the phenomenon of humans bonding with their human
captors in abductions here on earth. But people who look for these positive
aspects usually find them justifiably. Although many people fear that aliens are
intending to take over the earth for their own use, some Experiencers come to
believe that the alien/human interaction is ultimately a benevolent one and some of
the species of extraterrestrials are genuinely concerned about the ways in which
we are destroying our precious earth. They urgently want us to change our ways
and save our planet before it is too late.
Many of these Experiencers find a spiritual dimension in their abductions. They
may accept the ‘‘aliens’’ as intermediate beings between themselves and God, or
the primal source of creation, or cosmic consciousness. They liken them to angels,
spirit guides, light beings, or enlightened beings. During their abductions they feel
they are returning to their true cosmic home, beyond space and time, to an
incredibly beautiful realm. They feel joyous, with a changed sense of their own
place in the cosmic design, and a heightened sense of awe for the universe and for
the natural world of earth. They eventually see our notions of space and time as
non-accurate, and sense themselves to be in multiple times and places at the same
moment. They may weep with sadness when they leave this realm and return to
their humdrum lives on earth, and they sometimes remain depressed for a time
because of the loss of these glorious experiences.
When Experiencers realize that their consciousness is separate from their bodies,
they can relate more easily with the countless beings beyond space and time. They
become aware of the cycles if birth and death on earth and on other planets as
well. They become less ego-attached to their current personalities, and they may
identify with the extraterrestrials during their abductions. They may feel themselves
to be ‘‘blended with’’ the beings at times.
Moving Beyond Fear:
It is important for Experiencers to move beyond their fear, because fear seems to
attract the more negative aliens and more negative experiences. If Experiencers
act like scared animals when abducted, they will experience being treated like
animals. They can easily become so saturated with fear, that they are unable to
concentrate on noticing many other elements in the experience. It helps the
Experiencer to allow himself to feel the fear without holding on to it, and then to
notice details of the encounter and of the extraterrestrials with whom they are
involved.
Even when the Experiencer is told by the beings ‘‘not to remember’’ what is
happening during the encounter, he can insist on being aware and remembering. I
encourage my Experiencer clients to tell the beings that as a human being they
have a right to know what happens to them. Experiencers can learn to ask for a
meaningful relationship with the aliens, and if they do this they will more likely be
treated more respectfully and more like peers. Extraterrestrials seem to
communicate telepathically with humans, and some Experiencers try to "test" the
beings who come to abduct them by telepathically asking "Who are you?" and “Are
you from the Light/” If the beings refuse to answer or emit negative vibrations, the
Experiencer can refuse to go with them. If the beings say they are "from the Light"
and emit positive vibrations, the Experiencers might choose to let the experience
happen, knowing that they will very likely have some positive or at least meaningful
experiences. Learning to exercise this control is a good way of lessening the fear
they had of an entirely uncontrolled experience.
Experiencers can refuse to be taken, by several means: at the very first moments
of the beings appearing, they can vehemently project ““NO ! I refuse!”” either aloud
or mentally; they can immediately visualize intense white light from the highest
source surrounding and protecting them; they can call on their favorite saint or
spiritual protector to ward off the experience, or they can immediately move some
part of their bodies to break the paralysis that is about to set in. These methods
are effective if used immediately and with strong intention and emotion.
Experiencers can also learn to ask the beings for any information they want to
know, such as why the aliens are here and what are they doing, and why they are
doing certain procedures on them. I encourage Experiencers to ask these
questions during both the regression and any subsequent abduction experiences;
and usually very meaningful information is gathered. The knowledge that they can
do this considerably relieves their fear of the mysterious and bizarre episodes, and
gives them the sense that they are actively participating in the encounter instead of
being completely at the mercy of the beings. When Experiencers ask the beings
why they, in particular, have been selected to be visited, they are often shown that
during their spiritual state of being before coming into this lifetime they have made
agreements with the Extraterrestrials to cooperate with them during this life. Or they
are shown that they used to be a member of that group of beings during a previous
lifetime, and currently are one of their representatives here on earth, having
agreed to be studied by them for furthering their understanding of the human race
and life on earth. Alternatively they are told they are members of a particular family
whose genetics have been studied by the beings for generations.
Conscious, Awake Experiences:
As some Experiencers move through and beyond their fear they sometimes ask the
aliens to appear when they are fully awake and in the light of day, for a conscious
face-to-face contact during which they can avoid feeling victimized and they can
have a better chance of building mutual rapport. This does not always work out as
planned; some clients who ask for such a meeting become upset and react
negatively and hostily when their wish is granted. But others manage to control
their reactions of being startled by the beings appearing, and control any
protective, violent reactions, and proceed to have conscious, positive experiences
of relating to the beings, of visiting the spaceship, and of being taught interesting
information.
The Processes of Therapy:
In conducting therapy with Experiencers there are some special considerations.
These clients will probably not remember all the details that emerge during their
regressions, even though the therapist might remember, and they should not be
forced to deal with material which is still repressed. They will remember it
eventually, when they are ready for it. It can be helpful for the client to do
‘‘homework’’ assignments, such as drawing and/or writing down whatever they
remember from each regression, writing in a journal anything unusual that happens
during daily life such as flashbacks or "triggered" memories, as well as their
reactions to their regression sessions. As with other clients, any homework that
engages them in the ongoing processes of therapy is helpful, and it is especially
helpful with Experiencer clients.
During regressions, in order to make sense of the bizarre material as it emerges,
Experiencers may spontaneously ‘‘fill in the gaps’’ between awarenesses and make
assumptions about what is happening. This is called ‘‘confabulation’’, and it can
give an erroneous sense of the experience. They need permission not to
remember everything at once. Sooner or later it will all make sense, especially if
they relive the incident a few times. With especially traumatized clients it can help to
allow them to examine traumatic material without feeling it, as if observing it only,
for the first uncovering or two. This can be accomplished by having the clients
‘‘leave their bodies’’ astrally and watching the incident from somewhere else in the
room, without experiencing it physically. It is helpful to allow clients to examine only
one traumatic incident at a time, during one regression, and to bring them safely
out of the encounter and back to where the encounter began. With clients who are
emotionally handling the encounter reasonably well, they might wish to relive the
entire experience with all its details during the same regression. The therapist can
keep asking the clients how they are doing, as the regression is progressing.
When many Experiencers are newly reliving their encounters in regression, they
have an ongoing apprehension and fear about being abducted again. They may
feel helpless because they do not know when or where it will happen. There are
various techniques that will help them, such as: visualizing themselves remaining
calm when these strange beings approach them and abduct them; reassuring
themselves they do not need to feel great fear, because they are always returned
from their abductions; turning their attention to the beings and asking them
whatever they want to know from them; looking for elements in the encounters
which they consider benign and even positive, reinforcing their sense of their own
inner strength, which cannot be robbed by the beings.
Experiencers usually need time to assimilate the experiences which they recall
during regressions, and therefore they wait for a few weeks or more before having
further regressions. It is helpful to continue regular counseling sessions or phone
contacts with the therapist between regressions. It is important for them to know the
therapist is available to them for encouragement and support. The therapist might
be the only person whom they feel is understanding and supportive of them, and
this means a great deal to them.
As Experiencers go through regressions and recollections of experiences they
have had with Extraterrestrial beings, they may experience a wide variety of
emotions and reactions. They may experience initial denial that they are truly
having these bizarre encounters. They may have great anger that these beings are
doing things to them without their conscious permission. They may block from their
awareness certain procedures that are done to them. They may suffer great fear of
the beings and the strange (and sometimes painful) procedures being done to
them. They may feel deeply depressed that they cannot keep these encounters
from happening, and that they cannot stop any unwanted procedures that are
inflicted on them. They may feel grief as their previous understandings of reality
are challenged and changed forever. They may feel isolated and alone in their
experiences, as if they are hugely different than everyone else.
With sufficient therapy and regressions they may gradually come to an acceptance
of these encounters happening to them. They may become increasingly fascinated
with the whole phenomenon of Extraterrestrial encounters with human beings, and
may become serious researchers of this subject. They may want to share
encounter experiences with other people who are having them, and highly value
participating in an Experiencer ‘‘support group’’.They may come to realize they
actually do have some choice about continuing their encounters. However, they go
through a long process of changing from one reaction and state of being to
another, and as in any grief process they may experience these stages in their own
unique ways and in their own unique order. It is important for the therapist to
understand these processes and to help Experiencers proceed through them.
Entity Attachments:
Therapists should be aware that Experiencers may inadvertently attract entity
attachments, because they have suffered so much terror during their abductions,
which creates gaps in their auras through which entities can enter. A therapist
should ask for clues about this possibility, early in therapy with Experiencers. The
entity could actually be an alien entity, as such entities have been know to attach to
people. Any such entities should, of course, be released as soon as possible, by
the therapist or by a specialist in this work.
Experiencers may also channel interesting information from benign aliens, without
any attachment involved,.and this can be most rewarding for client and therapist
alike. For some clients, full awareness of the spiritual dimension of their
experiences comes when such alien beings channel through them during
regressions or between regressions. Some of the implants inserted in
Experiencers’’ heads seem to facilitate the channeling process.
Support Groups for Experiencers:
Support groups are extremely beneficial to Experiencers, for sharing extraterrestrial
experiences, hearing other people’’s encounters, knowing they are not alone in
having these bizarre happenings, feeling understood and accepted, and feeling
‘‘normalized’’.It is best to begin participating in a group after they have had a few
regressions, and when they have substantial indications of the kinds of things that
have been occurring with them. This helps them to avoid being influenced by other
peoples’’ testimonies which could contaminate their own memories.
These groups can provide resources such as suggested reading, conferences
about this subject, and methods of coping with difficult situations. Even a small
support group can help Experiencer clients. It is very helpful for therapists who
work with such clients to provide such a group for them. Although it is helpful to
have therapists present during meetings, they do not need to conduct official group
therapy. They can guide the group in an orderly way, and be sure that each
participant has his say, and let participants discuss the aspects that are the most
concern for them. Some support groups elect to do ‘‘sky watches’’ together, during
late evenings or overnight camping trips, in hopes of seeing a UFO. Witnessing
unusual crafts that do not seem to be made by humans gives Experiencers a sense
of validation of their experiences with extraterrestrials.
Working with Children:
Young children usually tell their parents about unusual creatures who come into
their rooms at night, and who take them away for awhile. If they are frightened by
these happenings their parents often tell them the visit must have been a
nightmare. If they are happy about their little friends visiting them, parents often tell
them they must be imagining these ‘‘playmates’’ Children benefit greatly when they
find someone to tell their stories to who will take them seriously and believe the
likelihood that their stories truly happened. This person might be a therapist who
works with Experiencers, or might be an adult friend who is knowledgeable about
the encounter phenomenon.
Children talk freely with such a person, and often recall considerable detail from
their unusual encounters. They usually do not need regression hypnosis, and if
very young it is better not to do hypnosis, as it might bring back more memories
than the child can handle all at once.
If the adult wonders about the truth and validity of their stories he can use a
technique suggested years ago by Budd Hopkins: showing them a series of drawn
pictures of figures well known to children, such as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny,
a witch, and a clown and include a picture of a little gray alien. If they have been
having encounters with Extraterrestrials, the children react strongly to the picture of
the gray alien and tell the adult many details of their experiences with them. They
need to be reassured that many children have these experiences and it can be an
adventure to find out more about these beings and what they are doing. If the adult
and the child explore these experiences together, the child may find it interesting
and adventurous, and may discover many positive aspects. He may also be
released from undue fear of subsequent encounters, and may even view these
encounters positively.
Considerations for Therapists:
Not all therapists are willing to work with people who think they have been abducted
by extraterrestrial beings, in fact they may not believe in the reality of such beings
and experiences at all. Therapists who are somewhat open to this reality still might
not be comfortable enough with the subject matter to work with Experiencers. They
might fear that their long held notions of reality might be shaken. They might fear
that the material would be difficult to handle personally and emotionally. They might
not know how to proceed in therapy with this kind of material. They might not be
trained in regression therapy. Therapists want their clients to improve and get
better, and might fear that because these encounters are reputed to continue, out
of the therapist’’s or client’’s control, they will not be successful in helping the client.
Therapists can help to prepare themselves for this work by attending meetings,
lectures, and conferences about the Extraterrestrial abduction subject, and talking
with other researchers and other therapists who work with these matters. They can
read some of the voluminous material that exists about this phenomenon, and
watch television specials concerning this material. They can talk to people who
have directly experienced these encounters. When feeling more prepared to deal
with Experiencers, they can look for the clues that the client might be having
extraterrestrial encounters, and proceed with their helpful therapeutic skills.
It seems that an increasing number of people are becoming aware of having
abduction experiences, and that more therapists able to work with this matter are
being needed. It is possible that if mass sightings of UFOs and extraterrestrials
ever occur, these therapists will be able to contribute significant understanding to
the public about what is going on.
Therapists who work with abductees can be strongly affected emotionally by their
clients' recalls and by the obvious challenges to their own preconceived notions of
reality. Also, with abductees, you cannot change the future: they will continue to be
abducted. This is distressing to therapists, who want to help clients "get better." It
helps to attend conferences and talk about these reactions with researchers and
other therapists who work with abductees, to form networks with them, and to read
widely about the phenomenon.
I encourage all regression therapists to be open to finding the clues indicating that
a client might be an abductee, and if they are found, to venture forth, with their
best therapeutic skills. As more people are experiencing abductions, it is
increasingly important that qualified regression therapists be available to recognize
their plight and meet their needs. If the time comes, as it may, when massive
sightings of UFO's and extra-terrestrials occur on earth, these therapists will be
needed to help others understand what is going on.
